Cosby update
On 29 September, 2005, Bill Cosby testified under oath in a lawsuit brought against him by Andrea Constand. That suit was settled in 2006 under terms that prevented disclosure of the case records. Cosby has since consistently denied that he ever administered quaaludes or other drugs to women for the purpose of his sexual gratification. But recently the transcript of his sealed testimony has been published by judicial order. In it, Constand's attorney Dolores Troiani asks Cosby, "When you got the quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?"
Cosby: "Yes."
Troiani: "Did you ever give any of these young women the quaaludes without their knowledge?"
At this point, Cosby's counsel raised an objection, and he was not required to answer. Had Cosby been compelled to respond and given an affirmative answer, criminal charges would have resulted immediately. Had he replied, "No," and been subsequently shown to have lied, he would have been guilty of perjury.
The release of this previously suppressed record makes clear that Cosby's protestations of complete innocence and his defenders'attempts to smear his numerous accusers have generated a false account behind which he hoped to continue his career.
This also remains to be said. For decades Bill Cosby has offered himself as a leading spokesman on social issues, particularly those relating to perceived failings within the black community. He has consistently chided "his people" from a smug, conservative vantage and presented himself as a paragon of responsibility and virtue.
He stands now exposed in a very different light.

one accuser" says she was violated by him on The Tonight Show in August 1971. And guess what, she was on the show that night, but Cosby was not! Raskin suggests she may have confused Cosby with another comedian, Nipsy Russell, who was on the show that night"
